WATER & SEWER UTILITY RATES  

On November 1,2017, the city council raised water and sewer rates through the adoption of Ordinance 2017-283. Those rates became effective on November 1, 2017 and first appeared on the December 2017 billing. 

All water and sewer rates are based on the volume of water used, measured in thousands.

The base rate (minimum billing) for residential water and sewer customers is $43.00 per month plus fees for trash collection and recycling. Sales tax is collected only on the trash collection portion of the bill.

When a customer exceeds 2,000 gallons of water use in a billing cycle (month) an incremental charge is added for each 1,000 gallons or portion thereof above the first 2,000 gallons.

Here are example rates for three different levels of consumption:

Sec. 66-183. - Water rates.

Effective November 1, 2017, water rates for the city shall be as follows:

RESIDENTIAL WATER RATES

Rate First 2000 gallons, per month ..... $2.00 2,001—5,000 gallons or portions thereof, per 1,000 gallons .....   7.10 5,001—12,000 gallons or portions thereof, per 1,000 gallons .....   7.50 12,001 gallons and up or portions thereof, per 1,000 gallons .....   8.25

NONRESIDENTIAL WATER RATES

That section 66-184 of the Shoreacres City Code is hereby amended to read as follows:

 Sec. 66-184. - Sewer rates.

Monthly sewer rates for the city for sewage service for residences within the city, and unless otherwise provided by contract, outside the city are as follows and are effective November 1, 2017

Base of $45.00 for each water meter and $0.75 per each 1,000 gallons used.

The Houston Yacht Club is exempt from sewer fees for those meters where sanitary sewer service is not provided (such as water meters serving docks).
